Client : Student work
Category : Design Research . Game Development
Year : 2015
The following game design projects (CIRKIT & WHAT THE HILL) were created during the game design elective where the brief was to design educational board games for children of the age group 10 to 16 years based on their school syllabus.
CIRKIT WAS SEMIFINALIST !!!
GAME 1 : CIRKIT
GAME 2 : WHAT THE HILL
GAME 1
CIRKIT
Cirkit is a two player board game on basic Electric circuits and components. It requires children to place conductors & insulators wisely to complete a circuit with less than 400 consumption points. The game allows the children to explore parallel and series circuits. They are also introduced to relative energy consumption of daily appliances. The challenge was to make the game assets downloadable for wider accessibility.
GAME 2
What the hill?
What the hill? is a two player board game on landforms and minerals based on the NCERT syllabus for children in the age group 10-16 years. The game involves using mountains to block your opponent. Special powers are activated using power cards and tokens. Raised tiles were made for plateaus and depressions for sea. Six tiles in the board can be re-positioned strategically to win the game, representing tectonic movement. An etched wooden action dice decides which power card is won.
DESIGN process :
The process was intensive where we came up with hundreds of ideas and prototyped several of them which were then tested the next morning by inviting children from neighbouring schools to play.
